Thomas Westcott Chartered Financial Planners has promoted Simon Lake to the position of Director. Simon is based in our Plymouth office and advises clients across the region and nationally.

Simon Lake was recruited to Thomas Westcott in 2017 and, since then, has significantly grown the firm’s financial planning offering in and around Plymouth. Working with a number of the region’s key professionals, Simon offers a broad range of financial planning expertise.

A Chartered Financial Planner, Simon holds a SOLLA Later Life Adviser Accreditation and 17 years’ financial planning experience. He advises on areas including inheritance tax, retirement planning and tax, pension and investment planning. He also works alongside professional Court of Protection Deputies, working to safeguard vulnerable clients. In addition, he has specialisms in pension planning for medical professionals and advising clients on the financial issues surrounding elderly parents going into care.

Simon’s future plans include honing the firm’s approach to supporting financially vulnerable clients, in line with the Personal Finance Society’s Financial Vulnerability Taskforce charter, and continuing to grow the personal finance team’s reach in Plymouth and nationally.

Simon said: “Being made a Director at Thomas Westcott is a significant milestone in my career and I am very humbled by my promotion.

“Joining Thomas Westcott four years ago, I quickly benefited from the firm’s ethos of team work and the mentoring support I received from the Partners. I am proud to be part of a large regional firm that is going places.

“This has been a tough year and, while we have adapted extremely well, I look forward to being able to see clients and professional colleagues in person in the coming months.

“This promotion cements my position at Thomas Westcott, where I see a future for the rest of my career.”

Iain Andrews, Thomas Westcott Partner and Head of Financial Planning, said: “When Simon joined the firm, he was tasked with building our financial planning base in Plymouth. Already well known in the city’s business circles, he has considerably grown his professional network and client base. This continued growth is supporting us to offer a truly integrated service across the region.

“His promotion also reflects his personal approach, which perfectly fits the business we are building. He genuinely puts his clients first, always offering the best advice and supporting them to see their plans through to fruition.

“In the last year, this has been more important than ever as we have experienced a significant increase in demand from our clients, who have looked to us to guide them through turbulent times as well as helping them to benefit from opportunities arising from global change.

“I am delighted with Simon’s progress and his promotion is very well deserved. I look forward to seeing him continue to grow our team and client base in Plymouth and beyond.”

Simon grew up in Plymouth, where he now lives with his wife and daughters.
